Aligning Your Mind for Destiny

March 2008

Aligning Your Mind for Destiny

Regardless of your age, race, gender, or primary pursuit in life, God has put deep within you a desire to discover and fulfill His purpose for your life. He has awesome plans for you and has prepared great works for you to do, great blessings for you to enjoy, great challenges to produce growth and maturity in your life, and great victories for you to win. I believe He is preparing you now for everything He has prepared for you in the future.

What does the process of preparation consist of and how do you embrace it? While it may include changes in the “externals” of your life—perhaps additional training, new disciplines, a career change, or a geographic move—it always includes internal adjustments.

The Lord prepares us with His purposes from the inside out, and that often begins with aligning our minds for destiny. Why? Because we will never fulfill God’s destiny for our lives in any area in which our thinking is not aligned with His Word, His ways, and His heart. We need “Kingdom thinking” for our Kingdom assignments.

The Pressure’s On

Most of the time, when we face obstacles, problems, or difficulties, our first response is to eliminate them. Our natural tendencies are to resist or run from what we call “trouble,” without realizing the many pressures we face are often God’s tools of preparation for us. Just like a masterful potter working on formless clay, the Lord uses pressure to shape, mold, purify, and transform our thinking and our mindsets so we can have the perspectives, clarity, and mindsets we need to fulfill His destiny for our lives.

Here are some ways God’s purposeful pressures may present themselves in your life:

  • Additional responsibilities at home or at work that requires new time management skills
  • An increase in influence or authority that causes you to think differently about yourself as a leader
  • A personal or professional opportunity that requires you to take a class or develop greater proficiency in a certain area
  • Financial pressures that force you to re-think the way you manage money
  • Changes in relationships that call for new strategies and wisdom when interacting with people

You’re on Your Way

The Lord has more for you than you have ever asked or imagined. He is always working in your life, constantly transforming your thinking and preparing you for everything He has prepared for you. As He moves you further and further along the path of His plans for your life, there will be times the pressure increases and you find yourself having to think in new and different ways. This is good news! It’s a sign that He is aligning your mind for destiny.

Remember, you will never fulfill God’s purpose for your life in any area in which your thinking is not aligned with His Word, His ways, and His heart. I encourage you today to embrace the process of preparation the Lord is taking you through and to see God’s purposeful pressures in your life as the transforming touch of the Potter’s hand, shaping you into man or woman of destiny He created you to be.
